‘It’s been a long time cooking and coming… WPH brings you a tribute to the biggest Belgian electronic music heritage…new beat! But this is no ordinary compilation that is just more recycling of things past. Just like in our regular releases WPH brings it fresh with respect to the past. And so it goes that Red D decided to ask a bunch of his favourite producers of new and old to make a new track inspired by Belgian new beat from the 80ies.

The result – dare we say it – is nothing short of astounding, with people from all over the house board bringing a fresh take on the genre, sometimes staying close to it, and sometimes moving away from it. And that is the very essence of new beat, a genre that had a name, but wasn’t limited to one simple formula when done right.

In this first volume (of four in total) we find Juju & Jordash, a very big UK house producer and his friend who wanted to do this one anonymous (trust us, VERY big name ), JD Twitch from Optimo (probably the biggest new beat fan you’ll find) and WPH household name Metrobox. The music simply is…new beat! Worth noting is also that for the very first time WPH will have artwork that is full colour, also as a way of paying tribute to typical new beat artwork. Also, all artists have chosen a new beat alias, sticking with new beat tradition…

‘Parisian funk scientist Juno Akasawa is back with ‘Future Bounce’, and the title really speaks for itself. Immediately from the start, it’s laced with that synth vibe and drum pattern that Juno is getting increasingly known for. Soft, feathery but groovy at the same time, this is definitely one for the modern funk heads!
Juno will be working on a new Ep very soon, and if his debut ‘Drag Energist’ ep is anything to go by, he will surely transport us to a certain place.
